As a photographer I was captivated by the clarity and contrast of black and white film, with the goal of always capturing something in its simplest and most pure form. As the digital age emerged my exploration continued, but ultimately I found the lens limited in creating images as I saw them in my mind. My painting began as a means to deepen the possibilities of photography and merge the mediums together, but I quickly learned that its limitlessness was much more enticing on its own.
I am inherently still drawn to black and white, and feel this work begins where the film negative ends. Exploring the contrast and depths of neutrals and striking the balance when introducing color brings about infinite possibilities and moods; allowing for a deeper and more complete articulation and interpretation of subject.
